On a clear, bright February morning, with the sun just warming the red bricks of the handsome building across the road, The Crosswalk Store, Pinjarra officially opened its doors to seekers of considered home objects, hard to find books, gardening aficionados and anyone else drawn in by the sheer elegance of its colourful interior. We hope you will pay us a visit soon, if not today, to see the shop for yourself – we’re bursting with pride and can’t wait to show you around – but in the meantime, please let us whet your appetite with some information about how to find us and what to expect.
-Kylie & Meredith put the finishing touches to the shop display at 21 George Street, while Caris waters the plants.
Pinjarra is one of the oldest towns in Western Australia and is a short drive south from Perth, taking just over 1 hour. George Street is one of the state's oldest main streets and is steeped in history. Many of its new-look buildings have been around a long time, serving as landmarks for several generations. History, nature and adventure can all be found in equal measure in the township and lavish, tall-tree forests.
Pinjarra is fast becoming a popular destination for day trippers and is a busy thoroughfare for travellers on their way to or returning from Margaret River. It is worth stopping by, even if The Crosswalk hadn't taken up residence.
Besides the Edenvale Heritage Precinct - where you can browse the Roger May Machinery Museum, Murray Arts and Crafts Centre, Liveringa Art Gallery and Heritage Rose Garden, you could browse the selection of hard-to-find antiques in many of the antique stores, grab a coffee and a cake from Dome or several of the cute cafes on George Street, pick up your sporting gear at SportsPower at the renowned Pinjarra Junction Shopping Centre or plan your winter wardrobe at the well established DD's boutique.
But let’s face it, as of 9am this morning, the main attraction is no.21.
Battling against the inclement winds of COVID, the rail collapse on the Nullarbor, The Crosswalk has forged ahead to breathe new life into the building, ably assisted by Orielle Pearce at Orielle Pearce Design. We’ve been working with Orielle for almost a year, in the course of which she has helped us to create an aesthetically beautiful interior, that looks and feels fitting to the carefully curated selection of products.

Of course, the best bit is that finally our clever, discerning customers will be able to see and feel what they have only read about on social media.
Our founders, have been guiding the team towards the grand opening, but on a day-to-day basis Stevie, Kasey and Jessica are the new faces of The Crosswalk.
The store will be open Monday to Saturday, from 9:00 to 17:00 and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00, so please do drop in for a chat with the team, try one of our beautiful scents, agonise over which book you most desire, marvel at the beautifully designed lamps, cradle one of the mugs, fondle the softness of the throws, and generally luxuriate in the reflected glow of some really great stuff from around the world.
If you can’t make it to Pinjarra to rub shoulders with the George St crew, all our products are just a few clicks away on this very website. We also offer click-and-collect from our store.
